Alien plant " weed " ? with parsnips .
« on: May 27, 2010, 19:46 »
I've just notice today that one of my parsnips is a little different
I  put the parsnips straight into the ground in rows ... so i'm not sure if this is a weed or a seed that was in the parsnip packet ... here is a picture of the intruder  :)

Hmm puzzling. Definitely not chard or beets or spinach. I suspect you'll find out when it matures  :D

I'd vote for perpetual spinach as well, although I'd be wondering how it got there as its seeds look nothing like parsnip seeds!  ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Those 'snips look very close together - are you planning on eating them as fingerlings?

This is my first year at growing veg ... yeah i think i should of spaced them out a bit more  ::) but i will learn by my mistakes this year .
As for spinach ... i've never bought any seeds , so i haven't got a clue how it got there if it is spinach .
i moved in our house last May , the garden was over grown with weeds ... it was a right mess , so the last owner did'nt have green fingers .
As soon as anything shows or happens with the plant ... i will post another pic in this thread  ;)
