What are Black Rock and Speckled Star?

Reading conflicting information from different sites eg
Black Rock is a hybrid mix of a Maran and a Rhode Island Red
Speckled Star is a hybrid cross of a Maran and a Rhode Island Red
Speckled Star is a Barred Plymouth Rock and a Rhode Island Red

Can anyone clarify please?

A Black Rock is a RIR cockerel on a Barred Plymouth Rock hen.

True Blackrocks are produced by only one hatchery in the UK (in Scotland, I believe)

A Speckled Star, is another name for the Speckledy, I think, which is a cross between a coucou Marans and a RIR.

It's a bit bewildering to find websites selling Black Rocks at �15

Do you suppose it's just a typo or will they be bred as stated?

They might call them Black Rocks, but they're not. They get the "rock" part of the name from the plymouth rock hen. Using a barred hen you get sex-linkage, so the chicks can be sexed at hatching or very soon after

Thanks for that. I think I have got something then I read something else that contradicts it. I guess I'm going to find a lot of that.
