Spuds are fighting back.
« on: May 20, 2010, 12:26 »
My potatoes seem to be coming back after the recent frosting, they are developing new leafage.
I have fertilized & covered them in grass cuttings before drenching them with water. I am hoping that they are going to make a good recovery.

 I am well chuffed.

I generaly just stick things in the ground green side up.

Good news
The english weather can be a challenge; as this is my first year growing potatoes we were late in putting them in so fortunately missed the frosts.

Mine are bouncing back too, though I expect a smaller crop.

I've asked my OH to bring the water to boil. New potatoes can come home anytime!  :)

Better to water thoroughly and at intervals rather than little and often, as this encourages the roots to grow upwards which you obviously don't want!  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I tend to only water them every other week or so. But they looked so knackered I 4t anything to help them wocouldnt be a bad thing.
