Back to the future spuds!
« on: June 22, 2009, 17:40 »
This being my first full year on the lotty I was surprised to see that more of my maincrop potatoes are flowering than my first earlies.  Does this mean they are ready to pick?  Everything seems to be growing well and I have my plot fully planted and now of course I return home with some produce for the table...good times.

Keep the faith.

Malc.

If you want to harvest main crop for storing, which is the usual thing, you must wait until the haulms die back.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Many of the first earlies don't flower so that is normal. The maincrops will be flowering now and that is normal but the tubers will take longer to get up to size,
