this is the space i have free for a veg patch, its a total mess at the moment and i know i've got some back breaking work to do, its quite sunny but its between the garden and house wall, i've got plenty of topsoil there so its going to be raised and its full of stones but I am so new to this i'd love to hear some experienced opinons on it before i get started with the spade....

You could go the 'square foot garden' route.  If you search on here for that then you will see some photos of how I made quite a small space into a successful veg plot.

Do make a search for Elcie's posts - she's put up some fantastic photos of what she achieved using the square foot gardening method and won't blow her own trumpet!

One thing - if it's next to one wall, let alone two, make sure you water really thoroughly.  Walls can absorb moisture and also act as rain shadows.

By any chance would youshare what you putin each square, I have googled and have found the number of plants per sq on this site www.mysquarefootgarden.net.
