Hey folk,

I have a awkwardly placed tree at my plot and wondering how best to use the space around it? dont want to get to close due to roots/height issues

I was thinking maybe some raised planters off the ground?

Take off a couple of the lower limbs. Could be a nice spot for a decked area to sit and drink tea in the shade of the tree.

What sort of tree is it? Is it very productive? Could you get better production by removing it and replacing it with some cordons in a more suitable place.

Build your raised beds along the same line with the tree trunk boxed off from the surrounding raised bed to protect it.and only use the land in the rain shadow of the tree for shallow rooted plants such as lettuce, spring onions etc.

you could try growing in tubs around it, things that don't mind a bit of shade.
