Can I plant my Sunflower plants outside now ?
« on: May 12, 2010, 17:34 »
They have been hardening off outside for a week now. Can I plant them out on the lotty or should I wait until June? They are about 18 inches tall at the moment and they are in 5 inch pots. Should I repot them or will they be okay for the next few weeks as they are?

Im not planting mine out yet.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Every single one of mine got chomped by slugs.  Still I've now worked out that they make a great decoy for brassicas as so far the brassicas next to them in the plastic greenhouse thing have been left (mostly) alone.... I'd sow some more sacrificial sunflowers methinks...
Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

Mine - hundreds of the little things - are all sat sitting in paper pots thinking about the big outside world.

They have had some whiffs of fresh air in the open but belt in around late afternoon. The youngest of the lot are just developing their seed leaves while the oldest are far too advanced at nearly 3" tall.... tall for dwarf Italian whites.

Once the warmer nights are with us they will be sat sitting all along my mum and dad's drive way - reds & pinks, white multi-headed and very dwarf yellows.

My father worried last year when the seeds he was given for Christmas grew into massive monsters and wafted in the wind despite constant staking so it's dwarf and "no worries" this year  ;)
