You still have plenty of time to get some bits in for the summer, lettuce, radish, beetroot, salad leaves etc...  They grow really fast.

You may find some people on the site who if you make it known you have just taken over the plot and am a newbie may well offer you some of their excess plants, tomatoes etc.. Most people plant far too many seeds.  You could probably still plant some beans.  Everybody is having to plant late this year as the weather has been so bad.

As fo your winter veg you can start planting that now, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, cauli, parsnips.  You can put all that in now if you want.

Happy planting and good luck with the plot.

I would not be tempted to be too early with purple sprouters and brussels. This can lead to the sprouters bolting in the autumn and the sprouts "blowing" rather than forming tight heads.

Another month is soon enough.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD, thats me up the creek then, my sprouts and purple sprouting are about 4 inches high in the greenhouse.

I now know why they weren't too good last year, perhaps I'll resow them a bit later on.

In bygone years the purple sprouter plants used to appear on the local market in July, just when we were going on hols.

I always read the backs of the seed packets for sowing and planting times then you know you're doing the right thing  :)
