Carrots in containers

I'm planning to have a go at growing some quick (Nantes) carrots in containers which I can keep moist and also near the kitchen door instead of down the lotty.

Once i pull my first crop (hopefully) can I re-seed for a second wave or is it best to dump out the compost and use fresh? I didn't think Carrots were all that demanding and do not build up soil disease?

This would be for the one year; using the spent compost in my container spuds (or beans) the following year.

I've tried it and found the second crop not so successful - but it could have been because it was a late planting. You will certainly need to add fertiliser to get the second crop going though I think.

If you like small (i hate the term baby veg ) carrots the size of your finger put plenty of seed in.
I`ve had them grow so tightly packed i had a job getting my fingers in between to get them out. This way you get more out of your first crop, then start a fresh container.

Ps Where baby carrots are machined to size ,
