mistake with parsnips
« on: May 01, 2010, 21:41 »
To try to avoid thinning parsnips I station sowed them very carefully.

Didn't realise that I would have a huge huge crop of fat hen come up across the whole bed and it is really hard to spot the single seedlings amongst them  :tongue2: :tongue2:

Won't do that again

Just musing that chitting parsnip seed on kitchen paper is a fag; making newspaper pots is a fag; pricking out the seedlings with tweezers is a fag; planting out is a fag ...

... but it always strikes me as worthwhile when I have a nice, evenly spaced, weed-free, row of Parsnips :) plus I didn't have to rush to get my only-good-for-making-bricks clay soil ready early in the year :) :)

I've just put some seed onto damp kitchen paper to germinate as I reckon that they have been in the soil long enough for any to come up that are going to. the ones at school are absolutely fine

Then (I hope) to be getting those tweezers out
