Now what I would like to grow, ladies and gents, is a butternut the same size as the shop bought ones, not tiddlers like Harrier ::) which will set more than 1 or 2 fruit per plant

Am I asking tooooo much? or can you recommend one  :D

I grew Hunter last year and will do again this year they were massive and all the old blokes on the plot just couldnt work out why I had such huge ones compared to their ones

First time I had grown them as well  :D

I got some nice butternuts from the free bbc dig in ones last yr, but sorry cant remeber what type they where maybe someone else can remeber?

But i think there are far superior squashes out thtere than butternuts. Imo )  .
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I love squashes.  Just a little question - are 9 plants too many for the 12' x 12' area I have prepared for my squashes? (mixed variety)?

Ditto. I'd never grown squash before. We had decent sized ones and quite a few per plant. I'm going for Hunter again plus Potimarron.

We've got odd weather at the moment. Really hot daytime temps (25ºC) but 2ºC at night... The bedroom is already full of toms, peppers and chillis. But I'm keen to get the courgettes and sweetcorn going too. No idea what to do.
