water butt - connecting to greenhouse
« on: April 14, 2010, 13:45 »
I have a greenhouse (Halls 10x8 ft) and would like to connect the water butt to it if possible. However, in the 2 garden centres I went to they didnt have the connectors needed and couldnt advise exactly what connectors should be used. The sides of the greenhouse - where it meets the roof - have grooves/runners for water to fall into from the roof and rectangular ends.

One of the garden centres seemed to think the right attachments could be found online but I have had no luck so far.

Any help is gratefully received, thanks

picture of your current setting would greatly help. and I feel that you can find the attachement you want at online.

if you don't have any joy getting the correct gutter connectors, you can do what I've done and rig up a drainpipe diverter (that came with the waterbutt) under the gutter using cable ties/wire/gaffer tape.  In fact back in Derry I didnt have the diverter and used the neck of a milk bottle fixed to a hose pipe...

That's what I did, using the flexible hose from the diverter kit and some Duck tape... works a treat.  :)

I just siliconed some 15mm copper pipe to the gutter and connected that with hose to the butt.

thanks for the advice. And I can't even get my measurements right  - it's 8x6ft - which I also see can be bought at the hallsgreenhouses website sabvo posted (thanks).

And like buses all coming at once after nothing, I have also found another link for a generic one which might work - cheaper than Halls website.
