they taste like ... carrots  :D  Honest, they are no different to any other bog standard carrot.

As for whether they work or not - they can still succumb to carrotfly so "resistant" is probably the incorrect description because the difference is that they are not so strongly scented as the other carrots, hence, they are less likely to be attacked.  If you use various barriers, sow thinly, and avoid thinning out and if you have to, do it in the evening when the fly is less likely to be around, then your chances of harvesting a carrotfly-free crop are suppose to be better  ;)

yes "resistant", not "100% pest-proof" sadly.

LOTS of barriers will do the trick. In addition to a fleece border (couple of feet tall), I also covered one of my crops of carrots last year with a very loose layer fleece, tent pegged along the rows so that, as the foliage grows, the fleece will rise up. Took no time at all to remove in order to weed and water.

How some of my neighbouring plot holders "scoffed" at my overkill. But, and this is perhaps naughty of me but hey ho, I was rather chuffed that while a fair chunk of their carrots were decimated, I had no carrot fly at all. And long, tasty carrots. So bring on the scoffing lol!
