Good evening
« on: February 18, 2010, 21:21 »
I am totally new here and I am not sure if I have posted a request for help in the wrong forum!

I was asking how difficult it is for someone with almost no DIY skills to get  hold of a second hand greenhouse and erect it

Best wishes

Why does this topic appear as 'Good evening' in the forum but as 'God evening' on the homepage?

putting up a greenhouse is a doddle. If you played with Meccano as a child your already qualified to do it.

The critical bit is the base. the point where the greenhouse rest on the floor MUST be pretty dam level, if it isnt you'll never get the greenhouse to hang together properly, so really its an exercise in laying a base.

The only hard bit applicible to second hand greenhouses is getting it to bits and moving it all without breaking the glass panels. The nuts and bolts may well be siezed and rusted so you may have to saw them off, so you'll need to buy replacement greenhouse nuts and bolt, and glazing clips (w clips), (cos theres usually a few missing), and z clips. And sheets of glass to replace broken ones - £4 a go at the local glaziers.

So treat it as a 4 stage exercise:

1. dissassemble
2. move
3. make base
4. reassemble
