My add to the shopping list would be a large pair of Marigolds.  I have been putting these over my gloves and means you can poo pick (which I find easier than a small spade) and I then rinse them off before changing the girls water and my hands havent been getting cold despite the recent weather.

 :) Hi Walker
Don't forget Umberella, Wellies (waders if required :tongue2:), if necessary buy Ducks instead of chooks :D

Thanks again everyone the shopping list is getting bigger and bigger .
Fox proofing is a top priority our back garden is enclosed with10ft conifur trees but iam
enclosing the bottom with welded mesh,as for the coop it is going to sit on inch by inch welded mesh (2mm thick) to stop foxes digging underneath. we live in suburbia but have alot of open fields nearby and the sly old fox has been spotted in our streets .
Our garden is pretty secure but im still going to be vigilant.
One light Sussex , two bluebells, two white stars, two speckled stars , two cream legbars.

It can be a problem ... do you have a collection of garden waste? Do you really have no room for a composter?

hi, just a quickie, if you are planning on getting 4 hens, then i would have 2 feeders and water containers...ther will always be someone at the bottom of the pecking order and it just helps to ensure they will be able to eat and drink also :)
Make sure you have a bit of a first aid kit also. if you havent got one you will need it.... s*ds law  good luck with getting your girls, its very exciting :)
