Feather pecking

I knew that one of our new girls had some feathers missing ... we let them out of the run for a short while today, and now I've had a good look, I realise two of them have been pecked while one of them is sleek and glossy! Guess who's boss?!

Anyway, I watched as top hen Clarissa pecked and ate a couple of feathers from bottom hen Delia. I have some Featherite spray but it's useless - actually smells quite nice, which seems to defeat the object! I can't seem to track down any Ukadex just now ... it's out of stock at the places I've found online that sell it. But I've heard that you can use Vicks Vaporub ... anyone tried it? Would seem to be a cheaper/easy option ...


Delia's not only missing some feathers, many others have been shredded or broken! Nigella is much the same but with rather less damage.
