newly delivered plants
« on: November 24, 2009, 12:46 »
My JParkers order, (blueberrys & rasps) arrived yesterday but theres no chance Im going to get them in the ground at the moment.

I would imagine its going to be the weekend at the earliest. Whats the best way to keep them? I just lifted the unopened box into the garage yesterday. I seem to remember something about putting the rasps in a bucket of water or healing them in...  but what about the blueberrys.

If they are bare-root, it's best to heel em in the garden, or if not feasible, pop em in a bucket with damp earth/sand/compost.  Just have to keep roots cool and damp.

Not a good idea keeping em in water IMO: they'll suffocate and rot.
