We have had loads of different breeds of hen, but the Warrens seem to be the friendliest to the point of tripping you up as you walk along. We have a Maran, who is barmy and is named Myrtle the Mad Maran, we had three Buff Orpingtons who were so stupid they went into a corner and starved to death because they didn't know how to turn round (no, really). We have had lots of Light Sussex bantams who are bomb proof, wonderful foster mothers and live to the ripe old age of 9 or 10. We have two beautiful Welsommers who are lovely if a little superior. But the most prolific egg layers and the friendliest have to be the Warrens. Anyone agree?

Warrens will follow you anywhere becaase they know you have the food!!!!  and yes they are the most prolific of the egg layers (as well as the other hybrids) because that is what they are bred for.

When I go out to feed my lot, I feel like the pied piper of Hamlin!!!!!
