noticed today that my Barnevelder hen has a bald patch between her legs and on her belly? She`s 9 months old,and been laying for 2-3 months.I looked for mites and couldn`t see anything,and the skin looks clean where its bald so wouldn`t think another bird is responsible. Could it be a moult?

more likely to be she's broody; it's going around at the moment; when a hen gets broody she'll pluck her feathers from underneath to help to incubate the eggs

thats all i need! only have 8 chooks and one of the bantams went broody in last couple of days..thanks for answer,at least if your right,it means its not an illness/infestation
