Please can someone give me advice about my thelma.She has got two bald patches at the top of her legs i have checked for mites and cant find any. She has been powderd with diatom and is otherwise healthy and none of the other girls have this problem. i only spotted them when i powderd her the other day she is 9 months old and has not yet had her first moult

Check the coop for red mite, slide  white paper between cracks to see the red streaks if there are any. Have you seen any feathers lying around. Does it look like new feathers coming through. Are the others pecking at her. Has she things to do (boredom).

I had a long chat with my local vet about mites the other day.  He said you have to look at one part of the chicken for ages to try and spot anything.  A quick glance and you are not likely to see anything.

Thanks guys will take another look for mites.We have noticed one or two feathers on the floor of the coop every now and then.The girls have the run of the garden and there is plenty to keep them amused.Will keep an eye on her for a while and check coop with white paper Andy
