Problems on our allotment
« on: August 16, 2009, 09:06 »
Hello Allotmenteers
Two questions if I may? 1] Most of our peas contained small maggoty grub, what is this?
2] Came back from a week in Ediburgh and found all our tomatoes going a yellow yucky colour, what is this?

1: Pea moth.
2: Presume you mean the leaves - could be blight, virus or mineral deficency.

Just looked at tomatoes, The stems and leaves have gone black and tomatoes have nasty
yellowy rot on them. How do I proceed? Are they to be pulled up and disposed of, and will the ground be affected where they were planted?

Lots of blight around this year - especially in the midlands.

Pull them up and bag or burn them  :(

Tomatoes are even more susceptible to blight than potatoes  :(

Plant something different there next year.
