You certainly don't need to notify anyone, but the viability of the spuds depends on a couple of things.
If the blight is caught in time then it doesn't travel down into the soil to infect the tubers. If you did catch it early enoughm, then Plot22's actions are the right things to do - leave them underground for a couple of weeks after removing the foliage before digging them up otherwise you run the risk of infecting the tubers as you lift them.
If the blight has really taken hold, it may have affected the tubers and they will not store without rotting.
I would wait to lift your tubers for the recommended period, see how they are upon lifting, and then keep a very close eye on them once in storage if they seem ok.
