Yes, I dry them, dry them some more and then a little bit more. Unfortunately I dont have much space and I wondered if I can cut the leaves off while still wet, thus making them take up less space on the inadequate rack I have? I will probably have the same problem with my onions soon too!

I would leave a bit of leaf but you could cut the straggely bits off

Once the stem between bulb and leaf has given up I pull the leaves off leaving about 4 inches of stem. If you cut it short rot can infest the bulb, also you will have nothing to make a plat with or to dress for show. Do not attempt to make a plat until the stalks are 100% dry. If you wrap the dry stems in damp kitchen paper before you plat or dress them the stems are pliable and will not fall apart.
