Tomato question
« on: April 24, 2009, 22:32 »
Hi guys

I have lots of different toms growing in the greenhouse.
I noticed today that the beefsteaks that I have, have their first flower truses but they look weird. There are the normal size flowers and a few of them have a single larger flower on the same trus as the normal ones, about 2-3 times the size of normal flowers.

Is this normal, will the plant produce normal size toms with the odd beefsteak thrown in?

They do have big flowers, sometimes they look like 2 flowers joined together, and these are the 'lobed' type of tomatoes like these http://www.parkseed.com/gardening/PD/80061?cid=pblog0001

I had these on mine last year and the biggest flowers had the biggest lobes..but all were big toms :)

Not really grown these type before, so was not expecting different size flowers on the same truss, . well its nice to learn something new.
And the toms in the pic look really yummy, just hope that mine turn out like that. :D

very normal , you can get double sized toms with the bigger truss flowers , beefsteak toms are a weird shape anyhow ,
