Potato question

Potato question

I was given some seed potatoes and i have no idea what they are they were planted a few weeks ago now and are growing very well, covered with a fleece now as run out of room for compost (in buckets)  as i dont know what sort they are, how will i know when they are ready (sorry to sound a bit thick but i have never grown them before....) thanks

as a rough guide..... when they start to flower....have a furtle around in the compost and see if they are big enough if not leave a bit longer ???

Whether you furtle, fettle or have a good old fashioned grope around, just take the ones that you think are ready and leave the plant to grow. I pick the flowers off my potatoes. When the folliage starts to die down then you empty the bucket.
