So which size pot?

Start them in 3" pots one seed to a pot, then when they have their 1st set of true leaves transplant into 5" ish and go from there.   Keep 'em warm  ;)

Hi, is the greenhouse heated, we've had some very cold nights lately, and as everyone has said they need to be kept warm.

Cucumber plant leaves (and those from other plants - thinking french & ruuner beans) from plants grown in sheltered greenhouses or even cold frames can be vulnerable to hot sun, especially combined with wind.

So if I plant out in those conditions I always stick a sheet of newspaper over the plant.

Best to get them hardened off in less aggressive conditions ASAP.

Terry please read Trilliums post on the previous page they need heat it's far too early to be bringing them on unless you can keep them warm, especially a hybrid type if that's what your growing ? you definitely IMHO don't want to be putting them out side at this moment in time.

Mine are living in the propagator, yesterday I took some photo's for my blog and left the lid off and the greenhouse door open less than 10 mins later I nipped out to close them up and 3 where starting to fold over, I put the lid down and turned the heat back on and thankfully they seem ok today.

Isnt it a bit early to start  off cucumbers for outside yet?
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I've just lost all but two of my courgette seedlings by putting them out in back yard early. I think they sucumbed to combination of wind and cold.

The two survivors are back on kitchen windowsill now but I have to sow a few more and be a bit more patient this time  ::)
