Red Baron Onion Set
« on: April 04, 2009, 12:09 »
I have just received my Red Baron onion set and I am keen to get them planted asap. These will be going into a freshly prepared raised bed.

Should I add blood, fish and bone before planting them? It is a new bed and the soil hasn't had anything like that added to it, but I don't want to add it if it will hurt the little onions.

Any advice is most welcome.

That sounds ok to me, don't overdo it though onions don't like too much feed. I used a few chicken manure pellets in my first year as I didn't have anything else available.

I also used chicken manure pellets last year for Red Baron (and the rest of the onions)
It was all I had at the time and the onions did really well.
I don't know about BFB, as I 've never used it.
