I don't nip peas, but with climbing beans I do.  I use 8ft canes that they travel up and when the reach the top, I nip them.  This stops blackfly.  And it works because last year, I forgot to do it, and I got blackfly, thankfully not much.  I pinched out the beans and I never got any more.
