Maxicrop seaweed extract
« on: March 26, 2009, 15:36 »
i saw this on sale in oxfam and bought a bottle thinking it was organic plant food but now i have read the bottle i am really confused and dont know what it is any more.

the front say 'plant growth stimulant' and the back says'use early as a root drench or foliar spray and later, with fertilisers, to ensure maximum nutrient uptake'

so does that mean it not a 'food' as such and i will need to add something else to it?

has anyone used it before?

that'll teach me to read the labels before i buy!

Peter - take your caps lock off please - I've asked several times now.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Maxicrop, as you probably already know is made from seaweed, and is an excellent all round 'stimulant'. It promotes strong root growth, which in turn promotes healthy plants. I think you should still use a feed though for more mature plants.

maxi crop/sm6 and the like are great. i use them every couple of weeks on seedlings to mature plants with great results. i add just enough to colour the water and apply as a foliar feed with a watering can and rose.
"mission"to grow bigger veg than my brother

You can get seaweed extract from Wilkos as well. I use it when I'm planting out seedlings. Not sure if it does any good but I like to think it does.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
