Chitting ..... sorry again!
« on: March 26, 2009, 11:39 »
Sunday is put aside for my planting day and I know there are lots of questions on chitting , so I'm sorry if this has been asked before

Do I put my chitted potato seeds in chits down or chits up?

Very excited at the moment as the turf for my paths is arriving tomorrow , then my allotment will be complete and I can get sowing. ...... Had to go for turf paths in the end as Dad is disabled and that way he can get up onto the allotment and safely potter about with me

Thanks in advance
Sal

Glad you're ready to go. Chits up if you can, but it's not crucial. Spuds know where up is. Put a bit of growmore or blood fish and bone in with them as you plant and keep them well earthed up. It can still be frosty at night in some areas.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
