I feel like i'm dominating the board!

adam's just rung to say that he's booked her in at the vet for 10o'clock (not our usual vet, cos they're not open today, but the one he's rung said chicken was okay....)

He's just phoned me:
the vet has given her an injection to help loosen her up and to pass whatever's in there.
he's also given her a pro-biotic powder for her water and a 5-day course of antibiotic.  we've got to keep an eye on her over the weekend and if she's still not passed anything by monday we've got to take her back with the possibility of an x-ray.

Keeping fingers crossed for you. Our girl Ren was blocked up for 3 days then managed to pass a really weird stringy wet thing after a bath and a squirt of olive oil in her egg passage, so really hoping Sandra will get rid of whatever it is now she's had her injection and be ok. Let us know! I shall be checking in to see

right, i'm all caught up with everyone else!
got home from work last night to sandra in the living room - picture at the bottom.

she's had her first antibiotic dose this morning.
she's not much better, though.
it's weird becasue she's still acting like a normal chicken, but just a lot, lot slower!
and the poo's still not right - although this afternoon she did one that looked nearly normal....
but she's spending most of her time trying to sleep or staring into space.
everytime i put a new thing in the run with her (usually food - a bit of kale, sweetcorn, some more mash, more water, and grit) she goes over to it and pecks at it for a few seconds then returns to moping. and she's eating out of my hand, but as soon as i put the food back in the bowl, she goes mopey again.
i took her outside in the garden earlier and dropped a piece of banana (the others were out too) and she darted over to it like she was fine: then she got to it and went mopey again.  almost like she'd forgotten that she was supposed to be poorly!! "oh, yeah, i'm ill, aren't i...."

i was keeping an eye on her as you do, then rita bounded over to her and started on her, so i got her out of the way.
erica has been going up to her and gently pecking her - almost like she's preening her.
but jessica was keeping a close eye on me - then i moved slightly behind a plant and she just went straight for sandra.  bl**dy meany.
I was totally in reach, and noone did her any harm, but it's worrying that they'll behave like that when she goes back to normal.
we'll have to reintroduce her all over again.

she looks better well fed than me, I do hope she gets better soon for you. It may take a few days for the antibiotics to work. Fingers crossed and your doing a brill job keep it up and keep us updated.

adam's taken her back to the vet's this morning, so i'm biting my fingernails till he rings me.... (possible x-ray in the offing)
