Germination Success Rates
« on: March 12, 2009, 10:23 »
Just wondering what other peoples success rates were with seed germination?

Currently have the following:

Statice- 24/24
Busy Lizzie - 0/24
Marigolds - 18/24
Tomatos

Alicante - 0/24 but in cold frame outside
Grape - 1/6
Vintage - 0/6
Banana - 2/6
Another I can't remember name of 4/6

Now your grips too strong
You can't catch love with a net or a gun
Gotta keep faith that your path will change
Gotta keep faith that your luck will change tomorrow

Gypsophila/babys breath pink gypsy - very slow only a few showing out of loads of seeds.
Border geraniums this year success sort of 8 out of 20
Marigolds all coming up
fenbow carnations lots coming up
Livingstone daisy or Mesembryanthemum did very well can't stand there and count but wouldn't be surprised if all 130 came up.

Everything I sowed late Feb - very poor, and what came up soon died.

Everything I sowed on 1st and 8th March - romping away. 20/20 tomato Ildi for example, 5/6 tomato Suncherry. Tons of nicotiana, stocks, coreopsis, herbs on the kitchen windowsill.

Tomatoes, Chillis, Peppers and Aubergines sown in heated props on 1st March all doing spectacularly well. Will be pricking them all out this weekend. Verbena bonariensis planted same time is a no show so far. Diascia and antirrhinum I planted over a month ago (on the windowsill) are rubbish - two out of 20 seeds germinated in both cases  :( Have resown them and hope that they do better now that the days are getting longer.
