I bet it's quite novel for him too !!

Good luck. Tell him it won't make him less of a drake.
Just do whatever you have to for him.

Unfortunately he doesn't look very happy this morning, poor lad. So I have to say not very optimistic for him. :( :(

Oh NO :(  Foxy :(

Is he on his own? Maybe he's a bit down 'cause he's missing his friends ???
I know clutching at straws :(

What's the plan? Is it still out?

Yes its still out, I haven't needed to separate him yet, there isn't any pecking or bullying. It would too stressful at this point. I will have another look later and give some metcam, plus vaseline, but I just have a bad feeling. If he was perky I wouldn't be so worried. Will probably take to my friend for a second opinion and we may take it off, but too much  prolapsed and thats what worries me, I dont want him to suffer and thats why I feel sad for him. :( :(

Good Luck Foxy. I hope you can sort it out.
I have my fingers crossed

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

Really hope he's OK.
I have heard that prolapse can be pretty bad for the drakes as well as ducks.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

thanks kate!

Have just brought poor Zeus back, we were really the blind leading the blind! However, he had a light aneasthetic and unfortunately most of his...... was removed, stitched back in and pain relief and antibiotics given.
At the moment he is comfortable, poor little fella - but really dont know how he will be, one thing for certain if we hadn't  had done anything he would have died.

Well Zeus has had a nice bath, walk around and I decided to pop him back with the others, he does look much better and far more comfortable. He had a little breakfast but wasn't that hungry though, but he does look much better, dabbling around, quite incredible really.
If we weren't all so worried it would have been quite funny really, three of us ( and my hubby) looking at Zeus upside down and wondering what to do with his willy!
Hubby was like.....do you have to take quite so much off???
Afterwards he stood straight up and nestled his bill in my shoulder,(the duck that is) everyone got a little emotional at that point....

Well done Foxy. You're a good mum and did what needed doing to save him. He must be very grateful. :)

Wish him a speedy recovery and I'm sure it won't slow him down any  ;)
