That reminds me of "the good old days"!  Does he also fill your car with petrol, clean your windscreen and check your oil for free?  I guess that your local garage isn't Tescos! ;)

Sounds great!  hopefully there's someone nearer to me that does the same....   Do you have any contacts in Durham by any chance?

This time last yr I was paying around £3.50 for 4ltrs, within a month or so it jumped up twice in price to £4.95 and then £5.44.  I enquired about the hefty jump and was told the price was increasing along with the price of oil.

As much as I understood why parafin prices would rise along with oil prices, I was shocked (but not surprised) last week when I went to b n q and low and behold they haven't brought the price down even although oil has come down a fair bit in price.

What if the Hokey Cokey IS what its all about...

I want a paraffin heater for my greenhouse from about mid march once my seeds are in.  Just to take any risk of frost off in the evenings.  Sounds like it might be expensive though!

In North Wales I paid £4.99 last year.  This year it's £6.99-£8.99 for 4 lts.  Send some of that pump paraffin this way please!

We sell 4 ltrs for £5.00.  The high price is the same as the price rise in white spirit, the next step up in the filtration process is aviation fuel.  Where are they going to make their profit.  All paint by 2010 will be water based and most of the companies we deal with are phasing out their spirit based products now.
