After last years pea growing fiasco (we live in a wood, and are overrun with mice), I have decided that this year I will soak my peas in paraffin (I am aware of the gutter method and will be trying this as well)
My question is this
How long do I soak the peas for?
I have read: overnight,a couple of hours, 20 minutes, and swill them just before planting.
I am loathe to soak overnight( it's paraffin after all), and if 20 minutes will work, then this would be my preferred time period
Can anyone who has tried this help ?

I have never tried it but the principle is to just give them a light coating as opose to soaking them.
They don't need to soak any up, it's the smell from the parrafin that disguises the smell of the pea so the mouse can't find them.

And as the pea seed is ultimately destroyed on germination and growth of the plant there is no contamination to the crop.

When the woman on The Big Dig programme did it she just swirled them round in it before planting
