Hello David,

Welcome to the forums. Sorry can't answer your question as I'm not a chicken keeper, but I'm sure someone will be along.

When you've caught your breath, perhaps you'd care to pop along to the "Welcome" forum & introduce yourself.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm using shavings direct from a timber making business that have their own conifer forestry and have no bad reaction from the fowl. Its what just about all shop bought shavings are made from. They certainly wont bother with any greenery from conifers either.

hmmmmmmm I would watch out for the decomposting resins from the confier itself as this sappy stuff could be potentially unhealthy for your chickens.
Saying that though probably would smell really nice.

There again wouldn't really work as a good run base, too soft...

Hello David {said quickly}

Do they give quotation advice ?

I'd like a new quotation but am too afraid to choose one in case it doesn't live up to expectations. :?

Would fresh shavings be too resinous and be sticky ? Wondered if they might stick to their feet and cause discomfort.

Just a thought. :)

First post...

"Small grammer error"

Hijack over. Still not sure about fresh conifer. I'd let it dry out a bit first or at least mix it with something.
