Seed Plant Shares ?
« on: December 29, 2008, 19:56 »
Hello,

Happy New Year (.. nearly  :D  )

Does anyone have any clue about how to go about seed/ plant sharing ?

I started growing my own veg last year and it went relatively well, so this year I am going for it big style.

I only have a teeny tiny back yard with a small raised bed and lots of pots, so I am looking through catalogues offering me packs of 20 seed potatoes/ strawberry runners with dismay ...

If anyone lives in the devon/ exeter area and is keen to share seeds/ plants , or knows how to find someone , please contact me !!

I only plan to spend £10/15 quid and I have my eyes on the easy to grow/ disease resistant plants seeds whic are easy to grow in a small space - would be ideal for another novice gardener.

Thanks !

Hi Exetergirlie and welocme to the forums  :D

Have you tried your local freecyle or lets scheme ?? also we have a Swap shop and recyle forum where you can usually find a swap, we don't allow selling so its swaps or freebies.  :)

Would have thought many people would be happy to swap seeds for the price of a stamp.

Don't forget some local garden centres may just let you buy 1 or 2 seed pots as they quite often sell them by weight, same with pea and bean seeds  :D

I have an excess of strawberry runners if you want any exetergirlie. I don't know the variety, but they are good fruiters, will fruit this year and are really tasty. If you want any for free, just let me know. Nothing needed as a swap.

Oops, I meant next year 2009, there's only two days of this year left.

Thanks robbodaveuk, that's very kind of you.

If you do have some extra runners I would be really grateful.

The only thing is Im not sure how you send that sort of thing in the post ?? You sound like you are a bit more of n expert than me   , so please let me know and I can arrange some pre paid postage to devon etc.

Thanks again

p.s Thanks Nogger - seeds uk seems much more practical if you haven't got a masive plot.

Thanks for the tip.

If you want a few runner bean & purple climbing French beans to save you buying a whole packet - send me a quick PM.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

As above said, you could try Freecycle.  This is where I got a few strawberry plants from last year.

exetergirlie, I have sent you a PM asking for your address to send the strawberry runners. Have you received it, only it was over a week ago and have not heard from you yet.
