Christmas day is traditionally the day you should start your onions off. You should plant the seeds before you sit down to dinner. Must admit i didn't do mine today, but i will tomorrow
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Are you talking sweet Capsicums - where it is a tad early maybe end Feb early March.

Or hot chillis - where now is about the right time to be putting in the longer season hot varieties.

I like to start my geraniums off from seed in a heated propagator.  Not done them yet but will be doing them over the Christmas break

Some caulis and cabbage can be sown now in a cold greenhouse. I've got AYR round and Hispis in trays ready for potting on

I've decided to start them on 1st of Jan like last year.

If I can some advice to 1st timers it would be to get some heat into the soil; be it with heat pads or lights. Otherwise germination can take some time!

ATB.

I use a heated propagator, and 250W CFL once germinated, they need soil temps of around 25 C to maximise germination.  Mine don't go out into GH till around Easter (it's very mild here in Blackpool).

Or soak the seeds over night in a warm weak chamomile tea, you'll get a head start and gain some protection from fungal nasties......

I'm growing lots of Indian Chillies got 3 restaurants that want to buy! Other than that the list gets longer!

I'll be growing my favorites from last year Piri Piri (makes amazing powder!) Frenso (good for sauce making) Lemon Drop/Hot Lemon (Vodka!) Tazmanian Hab (blooming fab plant!) aji cereza, Rocoto (only harvesting now!) 7 pot and some of the other mega hots

I think I need to join the chilli growing addicts anonymous I think!

Wht about you?

Had a good crop of Rocoto's (my little speciality), 7 pot did well.  Did a couple of bottles of Fatali Vodka (intended to try hot lemon vodka but somehow never got around to it, good crop of those though).

One of my favourite chillis this year was Aji Crystal, fantastic flavour and texture.  Great in fruit salad too.

Best  cropping were Trinidad Congo/Hab pointed yellow & Ecudorian Devil Breath.

Latest cropping - just coming ripe now are Brazillian Starfish (I'm looking to pick a few on New yrs Day). 8)

Defo on the chillis anonymous - you have a link?
