Postage is so high and prices no lower in any of the catalogues I've looked at so I'm going to buy from the market and wilko's again.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

A local independent garden centre is a good bet, but phone them to see when the varieties you want are being delivered.  They do sell out pretty quickly, so could be worthwhile asking them to put an order aside for you.

Last year I tootled along but all the Sante had sold out.

I bought Rocket Earlie's from Wilkos in January this year and they were great.

Will be going back in January 09 for 3kg of Rockets and 6 Kg of Red Desiree.
Total price about £9 for spuds that will last us most of the year.
99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

I would suggest getting them localy as the postage will be quite expensive and you would get more for your money in a local shop.
I'm sure January is early enough as they have them in around that time. I wouldn't think there would be any localy earlier that January.

That's up to you whether you use them or not & run the risk of passing on diseases, rather than use certifified seed spuds.

We are fortunate enough to have an independant nursery nearby that sells 90 different varieties for £1 a kilo - about the same price as Wilcos.

Places like Wyvale sell a reasonable range, but are more expensive, even so they cost a lot less after you've paid the arm and a leg you pay for postage the catalogues charge.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

i was just reading Dobies, which suggested 3kg == 30 tubers or so.

Good God!

Just tried a sample order from Marshalls.

I repeated roughly what I planted with two varieties this year & went for 2kg of Lady Christl & 4kg of Pentland Javelin.

Their cost £18.25. Would have cost me £6! That £12 would more than pay for the petrol from Nottingham to my local. There must be something nearer to you, (assuming you drive or could pay for the petrol for someone else to get you there).

You might want to go to a Potato Day.
There's a list here but I don't know if is complete.
If you can get to one they are usually good value and have a good selection.
