As yummy says only rained on and off in W Mids today.  Got home after a w/e away to find courgette keeled over and carrots drooping, sun forecast again for tomorrow, then p1ssing down all weekend (of course).  And will my endive and cabbage seeds ever come up, with all this rain?

I managed to get one load of washing dry this morning as well but then heavy showers this afternoon. At least the rain is filling my water butts to water the greenhouses.  :!:  :!:

We've had enough sun in the last 2 days to get the roofs and gutters back on the greenhouses :D

Just in time really, because our first show is next week!

Well here in Cardiff Ive managed to get down the plot twice in the last couple of week. The rain has been hammering down. I was surpised though, I didnt have as many weeds showing their ugly heads as I thought? Still, getting good crops of runner beans - even though the plants didnt look up to much!

Same here Rich, On the subject of Runner beans (Appologies if I'm getting off topic a little) Mine seem less tasty this year, and some are bordering on the 'stringy' side. I put it down to the amount of rain we've been getting .Has anyone else experienced the same I wonder? :?

srebmob - This is my first year with an allotment - so I cant really comment on th taste other than It still seems fantastic. I know they say runner beans like their water, but can all this rain be too much even for thirsty plants?

It has been lovely and sunny here today but I was a little concerned this morning as when I was going to work at 06.45 the car thermometer was only showing 4C.    It did look very ethereal though with the mist lingering in the valleys.

It was lovely here until about half an hour ago and then more rain

I managed an hour on my plot today, clearing lots of blown veg and a bit of weeding.

I managed to harvest a reasonable crop of red onions which I have left out to dry (and now will be soaking wet), 4 courgettes to add to the 7 already in the fridge   and a disappointing garlic harvest.

Which is better than nothing  :D
First timer, NOT enjoying the backache anymore!
