Quote from: "Yorkie1"
I almost daren't go down to the plot tomorrow - it's quite a few days since I last went down, and it's been hot and rainy since then.

What on earth possessed me to grow 3 plants (and that's before you count the squash plants)

P.S. There's only me to eat them.  That second freezer I bought over the winter is nooooooo way going to be big enough  :o

Oh dear ...

Roasted two this evening (didn't do well - don't know whether they weren't hot enough at 200F for 1h 15mins).  Using two more tomorrow for courgette & black peppercorn chutney (James Martin recipe, will report back).  Perhaps ratatouille without the aubergine?

And cake  :D

Mind you, it seems almost cruel to separate this conjoined set

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

This was todays harvest :!:
The bigger ones are now in soup and very nice too

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

The yellow ones are squashes I think but the others are all courgettes. The round ones are lovely and seem to grow in a day. Some of these were hiding and got too big! Not very keen on the yellow ones, they seem tough but all right in soup.

Just made courgette chocolate cake. It's cooling at the moment but I'll report back later on how it tastes. Just wondering whether to put butter cream in it, on it, both, neither, or serve it with a blob (ok then, dollop) of cream or ice cream. Decisions, decisions

We like to make a kind of tomato based sauce with chunks of courgette in, whatever flavour you like really - Italian, spicy, garlic etc.. The beauty of that is it freezes absolutely fine and you have a ready meal or meal base after a few minutes in the microwave. You can of course add meat or whatever you desire to it at that stage.

Mine are only just flowering so I have no idea if there will be a glut yet!
