hows the best way to freeze veggies? ive got runner beans to freeze today! is it best to top and tail, slice and freeze or to blanch, parboil first?
any tips would be super as always!

I've never blanched runner beans, since I read somewhere that you needn't.

Anything to save a bit of work. Never had any problem with them!

DD, do you freeze them whole or sliced up. My first year doing runners.

I never blanch peas, just shell them, put them in freezer bags and straight into the freezer.

If you don't blanch before freezing, they won't last as long in the freezer. I didn't blanch them once and they really didn't tatse good a few months later. I wouldn't blanch them for as long as it says in that guide tho - i don't even cook them for that long! Perhaps i'm weird - i eat an awful lot of the veg raw when i'm working!

same here, in fact my hubby says i don't cook veg i just threaten it with boiling water! perhaps it comes from the fact that my mum boils everything to within an inch of its life!

I top and tail mine,  slice, then blanch for 1 minute.  Only just finished eating last years crop
