Pulled my first onions today.  I have put them on top of the strawberry cage to dry.  It seemed like a good place.

Were they all ready Sharon? Some of those look as though the stems haven't flopped over yet.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'd say they could have had a few more weeks in the ground. Mine are Sturon and they are way off being ready.
It's a fine line between hobby and mental illness.

i also thought them to be too green in stem still done now hope they taste as good as they look

Hiya, my first time growing onions, when are they ready to pull out of ground?
Also some kids kicked a football on to them and flattened some of the stalks, will they be ok still?
I cried when i saw my flattened onions, was this a bit over the top? ive nurtured them since i planted them as sets and to see a football on them upset me.( im a girl)

wait until the stems stat to flop down and go browny then fork em up and let them dry for a few hours dep[ending on weather then take em home

All the tops were bent over.  The tops were actually more yellow than they appear in the pictures.
They taste great.
