A cockerel question
« on: July 06, 2008, 20:46 »
Hello
When do cockerels generally become fertile and active?  My little 8 week old Vorwerk cock has found his voice already, does this mean he will become active from an early age too?

Crowing is the sign that he is becoming an adult, if he is crowing so young I would suggest he will become sexually active early its not usually until about 4months that they get up to that sort of thing! sorry if that is the wrong answer...

Thanks Chookiepaula, Thats not the wrong answer at all - I just have no idea.  It was out of interest really.  He is going to have to be rehomed very soon especially as he's found his voice.  My girls have started laying and I didn't know whether it would be long before the eggs are fertile.
Hopefully he'll be long gone before then.
Thanks again
