I'm new at this veg growing business (but loving it!) and a friend came by the other day and left a box of onions "for your allotment". They're already planted in 4" pots and look fairly healthy, but surely it's way too late to put them in - or is it worth a try?

we have put in onions a couple weeks ago - hoping that being down in devon they might do something - better than nothin we thought.

who knows, we might be lucky

you can always eat the leaves if the bulbs come to nothing, just call them late spring onions
