Little white Grubs
« on: June 10, 2008, 09:52 »
Im  new to veg growing, but over the moon with the way everything is growing, very healthy and strongh looking plants. So imagine my disappointment seeing one of my Broccoli plants on its side dead. I lifted it up and found a very small white maggot type grub in the roots, it had ated the roots and the plant had died

Noticed another latter on in the day, any idea what they are and more importantly how to stop them eating my veg before i get a chance  :?

Thanks in advance
??? I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous... ???

Right i've asked around, a couple of old timers and the've told me to add diluted Jeyes Fluid to my watering can, it's worked for them for years so i'll give it a try.

May not save the plants this year, but if you want to grow brassicas near this part of your plot next year, then it might be worth trying well diluted jeyes.

Next year plant brassicas in a different patch and put collars on , sorry to hear that you have this problem .Gardening can be very frustrating, we tend our little plants then put them out into the garden and watch everything attack , if its not rabbits, birds and insects its something else .

A lot of ppl I know use Armillatox, it is now sold as a cleaner, this is coz they dont want to shell the millions needed to have it approved as a pesticide, the formula is exactly the same as old when it was used a pesticide. It is supposed to be 100% bio-degradeable.
