Ive planted cabbages and broccoli for the first time, Ive covered them with wire covers, I've also planted some onions they are maybe 12" long, should I cover these as well or will the birds not bother them?

I've found that birds only like playing with un-rooted onion sets!

Anything young are targets. Protect everything.

A foot long green onion is quite unlikely to be picked out by birds. I personally would not bother covering, well don't cover my few inch seedlings.
