I have a real hodge podge of houses, and am thinking that maybe I should bite the bullit and get a shed for the chickens. Bearing in mind that they free range all day and only spend the night in the houses, how many chickens could I house in an 8x6 shed firred with roosting perches?

LOTS!!?? Why not get the biggest you have room for...then you can just buy every pretty hen you fancy?!

I have to be careful as its right in the middle of the village, which is classed as an area of outstanding beauty and a conservation area, I can get away with an 8x6 painted green, and keep a couple of the other houses hidden behind the trees, anything bigger and I'll have problems, if it was up to me it would be enormous

Well if you take the minimum as 1 chook per sq foot of floor space, that's 48, but we had about 24 in our last 8x6
