i am looking at getting maybe 14 chickens , my run will be 10 m by 6 metres although loads of ppl have told me they wont need half of that { i dont do cooped up animals in small spaces }/

what size house would be ideal  depth , width , height  for 14 birds

i may be able to get a 6' 4 shed but the one i can get really needs a lot of work doing to it and i would perfer to make my own house .

got a feeling it's 1 square foot per bird, but someone more knowledgable will be around soon. And the run is a minimum of 1 square metre, but 2 is preferred.

For that many birds (and all the others that WILL follow) you can get plans online for sheds.

Can't remember where, but there may be a link on the info pages.

Obviously you need to think about yourself as much as the hens. Cleaning out is easier in a slightly oversized shed rather than squeezing round nest boxes, etc.

Onet thing we incorporated in our 'house' is shelter under it from the elements (has 3 closed in sides ) with their water and feed under it- and sand for some fun! lol

good idea porffor , i am going to make mini pallet 3 sided sheds at differents areas around the plot so during the day they can shelter were they want to .

i was thinking of making a house 4 ft  high and maybe 4ft width { i can lean in and clean it  easy then }  then 6 foot long ,
