spuds and earthing them up already

ive planted some spuds today and have earthed them up fully already,
will this be ok ?
or is it imperative thats its done gradually as the haulms emerge?


im sure i read somewhere that its ok, but am now im unsure if ive done the right thing. i thinki read a post by muntjac that thats the way he does it, but i cant seem to find it now  :?


i guess im just looking for a little reassurance really  :oops:

I always earth them up to start with You can never be sure what the weather is going to do or when you might next get over to the plot. I fork up a gentle mound about 5 to 6 inches high and then when they come through add another couple of inches. I don't think frost is as bad a problem for spuds as everyone thinks, robably be proved wrong shortly!!!
